Places to visit in Perak

Perak is food towns and limestone hills: Ipoh for white coffee and cave temples, Taiping for its Lake Gardens, and Pangkor Island for an easy beach weekend. Up north, Royal Belum is ancient rainforest explored by houseboat. Ipoh is about two and a half hours from KL by car or ETS, and makes a good base for day trips to Gopeng, Kuala Kangsar and Kellie's Castle.
