slim river
Rafting at Ulu Slim, wood-fired Roti Mokhtar and the 1942 Battle of Slim River.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Operators run when the river is safe and cancel after heavy rain, which is likeliest in April and from October to November. Morning trips beat the afternoon storms.
- How long
- Day trip
- Getting there
- About 1.5 hours' drive from KL on the North–South Expressway (exit at Slim River), then about 20 minutes to the rafting base at Ulu Slim. Some operators run trips with pick-up from KL.

A small town off the North–South Expressway, about 1.5 hours from KL. The draw is white-water rafting on the Sungai Slim at Ulu Slim, with a loaf from the town's old bakery and the sites of a 1942 battle to fill the rest of the day.

Good to know
- Wear shoes that stay on in water, and leave a change of clothes in the car.
- Trips are called off after heavy rain upriver, even if it's dry in town. Book a morning slot and keep the afternoon free.
- Ask the operator about the minimum age before bringing children.
