victoria bridge
A steel railway bridge from 1900 over the Perak River at Karai, now a footbridge and photo stop.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Early morning and late afternoon give the softest light on the steel and keep you out of the midday heat. It's exposed out over the river, so stay off it when a storm rolls in.
- How long
- 1–2 hours
- Getting there
- About 3 hours' drive from KL: the North–South Expressway to Kuala Kangsar, then 15 minutes north-east to Karai. The ETS stops at Kuala Kangsar; take a taxi or Grab from the station.

One of the oldest railway bridges in the country, a long steel truss across the Perak River at Karai, just outside Kuala Kangsar. Trains crossed it from 1900 until 2002. Now the narrow walkway along its side is used by kampung folk on foot and on motorbikes, and photographers come for the lines of ironwork.

Good to know
- Stay on the walkway. The newer bridge beside it is a live, electrified line.
- Pair it with Kuala Kangsar's Ubudiah Mosque and Ulu Kenas for a full day.
