A small former tin-mining town in the Kinta Valley, now known mostly for big freshwater prawns. Old mining ponds surround the town, and one of them holds the last surviving tin dredge in the country.

Good to know

  • Prawns are sold by weight, so check the price before you order.
  • Go for an early lunch on weekends to beat the crowds.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
