Reef surf breaks and local-island beach days a short speedboat ride from Malé.
- Best time
- January–April is the best time for a beach trip. Surfers come from about March to October, when the southwest swell arrives, and put up with more rain and rougher water.
- How long
- 3–4 days
- Getting there
- Fly direct from KL to Malé (about 4.5 hours), then it's 30–40 minutes by speedboat from the airport, or about 1.5 hours on the public ferry from Malé. The Maldives is 3 hours behind KL.

Thulusdhoo is a local island in North Malé Atoll, with a working village, small guesthouses and two well-known surf breaks just offshore. It's only a short boat ride from the airport, which makes it easy for a few days.

Things to do
- CokesA fast, hollow right-hander over the reef, named after the island's Coca-Cola bottling plant, for experienced surfers.Map ↗
- ChickensA long left-hander a short boat ride away, named after an old chicken farm on the next island.Map ↗
- Bikini beachThe designated tourist beach, where swimwear is fine, with a sandbank and snorkelling nearby.Map ↗
- The villageThe harbour, small shops and quiet residential lanes, easy to walk around in an hour.Map ↗
Good to know
- Local-island rules apply: food is halal, there's no alcohol, and away from the tourist beach you cover shoulders and knees.
- Cokes and Chickens are reef breaks, not for beginners; the island's surf schools take learners to gentler spots.
