langkawi or phuket?
Both are Andaman Sea islands with the same November to April dry season, both a short flight from KL. Langkawi is the quiet, easy option with no passport needed, while Phuket is bigger and busier, with more beaches, more boat trips and proper nightlife.

The verdict
Langkawi is the easier, quieter trip, and it works on a long weekend without a passport. Phuket is bigger and busier, with better boat trips and much more going on at night. Can't decide? Both are at their best from November to April, so pick Langkawi if the group wants to switch off and Phuket if it wants options.
