zakynthos
Blue sea caves, white limestone cliffs and sandy turtle-nesting beaches.
- Best time
- May–June and September are warm and good for boat trips and beaches. July–August is hot and busy, with Laganas especially crowded; from November to February it's wet and most tourist places close.
- How long
- 4 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop to Athens, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 14–16 hours all in, then a 50-minute flight to Zakynthos. The airport is about 15 minutes from town. Greece is 5 hours behind KL in summer and 6 in winter.

Zakynthos has two sides: sandy, turtle-nesting bays in the south and tall white limestone cliffs in the north and west. Boats take you to the sea caves and the famous shipwreck cove, while the southern bays belong to a marine park.

Good to know
- On turtle beaches, keep to the marked zones and well away from nests.
- Laganas is the party resort; Vasilikos, Tsilivi and Zakynthos Town are calmer bases.
- Halal food is very limited; grilled fish, salads and cheese pies are the easy options.
