sungai lembing
Old tin-mining town with tunnel tours and a misty sunrise from Panorama Hill.
- Best time
- March to October is drier. The monsoon from about November to February brings heavy rain, which can cancel waterfall trips. Weekdays are quieter on the hill.
- How long
- 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- About 3.5–4 hours' drive from KL on the East Coast Expressway: Kuantan first, then about 45 minutes inland. You can also fly or take a bus to Kuantan and get a taxi or Grab from there.

A small valley town 45 minutes inland from Kuantan that grew up around one of the world's biggest underground tin mines. The mines closed in 1987. Today people come for the old tunnels, the wooden shophouses and an early climb to watch the mist roll over the valley.

Good to know
- For Panorama Hill, start before dawn and bring a torch. It's steep steps the whole way up.
- The Rainbow Waterfall needs a 4WD and a guide, so book a trip in town the day before. Whether you see the rainbow depends on the weather.
