- Autumn for Seoraksan's colours, and winter for snow crab. July and August are beach season, when holidaymakers from Seoul fill the town.

- Fly from KL to Incheon, about 6.5 hours. Express buses from Seoul take about 2.5 hours. You can also take the KTX to Gangneung and a bus up the coast.

A fishing city on Korea's east coast, squeezed between the sea and the peaks of Seoraksan. It's known for seafood, a lively central market and a village founded by refugees from the North after the Korean War.
