siargao
Surf capital with Cloud 9, palm-lined roads and island hopping.
- Best time
- March to October is generally drier and calmer, while November to January is the wettest. The best surf at Cloud 9 usually comes from around August to November.
- How long
- 4–5 days
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Manila or Cebu (about 4 hours), then a domestic flight to Siargao's Sayak airport. General Luna is about 45 minutes by van from there. You can also fly to Surigao City and take the ferry across.

A teardrop-shaped island off north-east Mindanao, known as the surfing capital of the Philippines. Life centres on General Luna, with its surf breaks, cafés and palm-lined roads, and there are lagoons and island beaches to explore by boat.

Good to know
- Check the tide before going to Magpupungko. The pools only show up at low tide.
- Bring enough cash. ATMs are few and can run out at busy times.
- Rent a scooter only if you're confident on rough roads, and always wear a helmet.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
