pamukkale
White mineral terraces and the Roman streets and theatre of Hierapolis.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October are the comfortable months. July–August is very hot on the white rock, which glares and has no shade; winter is cold, with frosty mornings.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop via Istanbul to Denizli, about 14–16 hours all in, then it's about an hour by road. Turkey is 5 hours behind KL all year.

Pamukkale's white travertine terraces spill down a hillside, filled with warm, milky-blue mineral water. On top sits Hierapolis, a Roman spa city with a theatre, baths and one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Turkey.

Good to know
- Meat is halal as standard here.
- Shoes come off on the terraces, so bring a bag to carry them and sunglasses for the glare.
- The water is rotated between terraces, so some pools are dry on any given day.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
