A riverside garden, black castle and summer peaches from the surrounding orchards.
- Best time
- March–May and October–November are best for Korakuen. July–August brings the white peaches, but also serious heat. Winter is cool and quiet.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Osaka Kansai (about 6.5 hours). The shinkansen from Shin-Osaka reaches Okayama in about 45 minutes. Japan is an hour ahead of KL.

Okayama is more than a shinkansen stop between Osaka and Hiroshima. Korakuen garden and the black 'crow castle' face each other across the river, and the city is a handy base for Kurashiki, Naoshima and the Inland Sea.

Good to know
- Korakuen and the castle make one easy walking loop. Leave the Kibiji bike route for a separate half-day.
