muzium negara
Malay kingdoms, the road to independence and railway exhibits beside KL Sentral.
- Best time
- Any time of year, and a good plan for a wet afternoon. Weekdays outside school holidays are quietest.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Take the MRT Kajang line to Muzium Negara and use the museum exit. From KL Sentral, the covered walkway takes about 10 minutes. Driving from the city centre takes about 10 minutes via Jalan Damansara, and there's parking at the museum.

Muzium Negara is worth a second visit after the school trip. The galleries walk you through the Malay kingdoms, colonial rule and independence, and the grounds have old steam locomotives, vintage cars and a wooden Terengganu palace.

Good to know
- Don't try to cross Jalan Damansara on foot; use the station walkway.
- Pair it with the Lake Gardens uphill or Brickfields next door for a full day.
