Ancient temples on a mountain slope above a valley full of olive trees.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October are mild, good for the steep uphill paths. July–August is hot; winter is cold, sometimes with snow, but the site is quiet.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop to Athens, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 14–16 hours all in. Delphi is about 2.5 hours by car, or about 3 hours by KTEL bus from Athens's Liosion bus station. Greece is 5 hours behind KL in summer and 6 in winter.

The ancient Greeks thought Delphi was the centre of the world, and pilgrims came from everywhere to consult its oracle. The ruins climb a steep slope of Mount Parnassus above a valley of olive trees running down to the sea.

Good to know
- Go at opening time: the paths are steep and exposed, and tour coaches from Athens arrive by late morning.
- Buses to Delphi leave from Athens's Liosion bus station, not the main Kifisos one.
- Halal food is scarce; olives, cheese, greens and grilled vegetables are the easy choices in the village.
