Ampang grew up around tin mines in the 1850s, and the Hakka miners' old village is still where people go for the yong tau foo it's famous for. Add one of Selangor's oldest Nine Emperor Gods temples, then come back for dinner in Ampang's Korean town.

Good to know

  • Yong tau foo fillings here usually contain pork, so it isn't halal. Korean town has a few Muslim-friendly restaurants; ask before you sit down.
  • Go early for yong tau foo. The well-known shops fill up fast at lunch.
  • During the festival, keep temple doorways clear and ask before photographing devotees.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
