Places to visit in Netherlands

The Netherlands is small and flat, so Amsterdam works as a base: canal houses and Dutch masters in the city, then quick train rides to Delft's blue-and-white pottery, Rotterdam's cube houses or The Hague's beach. Giethoorn, a village of thatched houses and canals, is a longer day out. KLM flies direct from KL to Amsterdam overnight, about 13 hours.
