Places to visit in Austria

Austria pairs grand cities with lake and mountain towns: Vienna for palaces and coffee-house cakes, Salzburg for Mozart and The Sound of Music, and Hallstatt for houses stacked along a lake below the mountains. Innsbruck and Zell am See add Alpine lifts and glacier views, and the Wachau Valley is Danube villages and vineyards. From KL it's one stop, usually via Dubai or Istanbul, into Vienna or Munich, just over the German border.
