A walkable harbour, colourful gardens, old Chinatown streets and island seafood.
- Best time
- April–September are best, with gardens in bloom from spring and dry, sunny summers. Winter is mild by Canadian standards but rainy and windy.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly to Vancouver with one stop, usually via Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul or Tokyo, about 17–20 hours all in. From there, bus and ferry take about 4 hours, or a seaplane about 35 minutes harbour to harbour. BC stopped changing its clocks in 2026, so it's now 15 hours behind KL all year. Malaysians need a Canadian visitor visa, or just an eTA if flying in with a valid US visa or a Canadian visa held in the last 10 years.

Victoria, BC's capital, sits at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, with a compact harbour, old stone government buildings and gardens everywhere. It's slower than Vancouver and worth more than a rushed day trip.

Good to know
- The ferry terminal at Swartz Bay is half an hour outside the city, so allow for the bus connections at both ends.
- Halal choice is small, mostly a few Middle Eastern and Indian places downtown; seafood fills the gaps.
