Weird wind-carved rocks on the coast, including the famous Queen's Head.
- Best time
- Any time, but go early before the tour buses. Winter brings strong winds and rain from the north-east monsoon.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Taipei (about 5 hours). Buses from Taipei take about 1–1.5 hours along the north coast, or join a day tour that adds Jiufen and Shifen.

A narrow cape on the north coast where waves have worn the rock into mushroom-shaped hoodoos and other odd shapes. The most famous, Queen's Head, is thousands of years old and slowly wearing away. It's an easy half-day out of Taipei.

Things to do
- Queen's HeadThe famous rock shaped like a queen's profile. Expect a queue for photos.Map ↗
- Mushroom rocksFields of top-heavy hoodoos near the entrance, each a little different.Map ↗
- Fairy Shoe and Candlestick RockTwo more well-known formations further along the cape.Map ↗
- The headland trailA path up and along the end of the cape, with views back over the rock fields.Map ↗
Good to know
- Stay behind the red lines painted on the rock. Beyond them, waves and slippery rock are dangerous.
- Don't touch or climb the formations. They're fragile and protected.
