Postcard paddy fields at the foot of Gunung Jerai and a cold dip at Titi Hayun.
- Best time
- Kedah grows two rice crops a year, so the fields change from flooded to green to gold through the year. Weekends get busy at the waterfalls; go on a weekday morning if you can.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- About 4 hours' drive from KL on the North–South Expressway (exit at Gurun), or about an hour from Penang. The nearest ETS stops are Gurun and Sungai Petani.

A quiet coastal district in Kedah where paddy fields roll out from the foot of Gunung Jerai to the sea. It's a weekend escape for waterfalls, cool mountain air and the classic rice-bowl views Kedah is known for.

Good to know
- In 2021 a flash flood off Gunung Jerai swept through Yan. Stay out of streams and waterfalls after heavy rain, and check that recreation areas are open.
- The road up Gunung Jerai is steep and winding. Use a low gear on the way down.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
