whistler
Two ski mountains, a walkable village and summer lake paths beneath the gondolas.
- Best time
- January–March are best for skiing, in a season that runs from late November to April. July–September are good for alpine hikes and lake days; May and November are between seasons, with the lifts closed.
- How long
- 3–5 days
- Getting there
- Fly to Vancouver with one stop, usually via Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul or Tokyo, about 17–20 hours all in. Whistler is about 2 hours up the Sea-to-Sky Highway, or about 3 hours by airport coach. BC stopped changing its clocks in 2026, so it's now 15 hours behind KL all year. Malaysians need a Canadian visitor visa, or just an eTA if flying in with a valid US visa or a Canadian visa held in the last 10 years.

Whistler has two big ski mountains above a car-free village, so a winter trip stays simple once you arrive. In summer the same slopes turn into hiking trails and bike parks, with lakes in the valley.

Good to know
- Book lift passes and ski hire online before you go; they're cheaper than at the window.
- Halal is limited in the village, so stock up in Vancouver before the drive.
