- Fly with one stop, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 15–17 hours all in. Trains from Chopin Airport reach the centre in about 25 minutes. Poland is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Warsaw was almost completely destroyed in 1944, and its old town was rebuilt brick by brick from old paintings and plans. Around it is a big, modern capital of wide avenues, Soviet-era towers, green parks and some of Europe's best history museums.

Good to know
- Give POLIN and the Warsaw Rising Museum separate days; both are big and heavy going.
- Turkish, Middle Eastern and Indian restaurants in the centre are the easiest halal option.
