Wadi Rum is a desert valley of red sand and sandstone mountains, cut by canyons and natural rock arches. Bedouin guides drive you around by day, and a night at a desert camp brings the sunset, a slow dinner and a sky full of stars.

Good to know

  • Agree the meeting point with your camp; the visitor centre, Rum village and the camps are separate places.
  • Food is halal as standard. The Jordan Pass covers entry to the protected area, but jeep tours and camps are paid separately.
  • Fighting in the region closed Jordanian and Gulf airspace at times in 2026, so a flexible ticket and insurance that covers disruption are worth having.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
