Bamboo groves, seaside pine trails and rocky headlands beyond the shipyards.
- Best time
- April–May and October–November suit walking. July–August is hot and rainy; winter is cool and breezy but fine for shorter coastal walks.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Seoul Incheon (about 6.5 hours). The KTX from Seoul reaches Ulsan in about 2–2.5 hours. When direct flights to Busan are running (also about 6.5 hours), Ulsan is about an hour away by bus. Korea is an hour ahead of KL.

Korea's industrial powerhouse, home to huge shipyards and car plants, with a surprisingly green side: a bamboo-lined river park and a rocky, pine-covered coast. In 2025, prehistoric whale-hunt carvings in the hills became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Good to know
- Ulsan's KTX station is about 40 minutes from the city centre by bus, so allow for the transfer.
- Seafood and vegetable dishes are the easiest pork-free choices; 'gogi ppae-juseyo' asks for no meat.
