tutong
Pulut panggang breakfasts, a quiet riverfront and a beach between river and sea.
- Best time
- Any time of year; February and March are usually the driest. Late-year downpours are heavy but short, though the sea at Seri Kenangan can be rough.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- Fly to Bandar Seri Begawan (about 2 hours 20 minutes direct from KL), then drive about 45 minutes west. If you're coming overland from Miri, Tutong is on the way. Brunei is on the same time as KL.

A small riverside town about 45 minutes west of Bandar, and an easy day out: breakfast at an old coffee shop, the town market, a long beach between river and sea, and Brunei's biggest lake in the forest inland. Come early for the pulut panggang, which Tutong is known for.

Good to know
- Come with a car: the town, the beach and the lake are spread out.
- Food is halal almost everywhere, as across Brunei.
- The sea side of Seri Kenangan gets strong surf, so it's better for a sunset walk than a swim.
