templer park
Old-school jungle waterfalls in Rawang with Bukit Takun's limestone above.

- Any time of year, but avoid it after heavy rain, when the streams rise fast. Weekday mornings are quietest.
- How long
- Half a day

A forest reserve on the edge of Rawang, set aside in the 1950s as a park and wildlife sanctuary. It's an old-school day out from KL: jungle streams, tiered waterfalls and the limestone cliffs of Bukit Takun rising above the trees.
Things to do
- The waterfallsFollow the stream trail up past several tiers of falls and pools.Map ↗
- Bukit TakunThe limestone hill above the park is a well-known rock-climbing spot. Its small cave, Gua Anak Takun, is home to a rare trapdoor spider.Map ↗
- Picnic by the streamBring food and a mat and claim a spot by the water.Map ↗
- Kanching FallsAnother tiered waterfall a short drive away, if you want a second swim.Map ↗
Good to know
- Keep food packed away. The monkeys know exactly what plastic bags mean.
- Water levels rise quickly after rain. Get out of the stream if it starts turning brown.
- Take your rubbish home with you.
