tanjung sedili
Fishing boats at the river mouths, a broad sandy bay and a seafood lunch.
- Best time
- March to October. The north-east monsoon, roughly November to February, brings heavy rain, rough seas and floods to this coast, and the boats stay in.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- About 5 hours' drive from KL via Kota Tinggi, then about an hour north-east to the coast. From JB it's about 1.5–2 hours.

A quiet stretch of the east coast north of Desaru, where the Sedili rivers meet the sea. Fishing villages sit at either end of Teluk Mahkota, the long bay the British called Jason's Bay, and the plan is simple: boats, a beach walk and fish for lunch.

Things to do
- Tanjung SediliThe fishing village at the mouth of the Sedili Besar, with boats moored along the river.Map ↗
- Teluk MahkotaA long, empty sweep of sand, popular with local families for picnics.Map ↗
- Sedili KechilThe village at the southern end of the bay, with the shops and eateries, by the mouth of the smaller river.Map ↗
Good to know
- The open coast has strong currents. Keep to paddling unless the sea is flat calm.
- Pair it with Kota Tinggi's waterfall or the fireflies on the drive back.
