tangier
Strait of Gibraltar views, hillside medina lanes and mint tea above the sea.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October suit the steep lanes and the coast. July–August brings big holiday crowds; winter is cooler, wetter and windier.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop to Casablanca, usually via Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, about 17–20 hours all in. The Al Boraq high-speed train then takes about 2 hours from Casa Voyageurs to Tanger Ville. Morocco is 8 hours behind KL.

Tangier climbs a hillside above the Strait of Gibraltar, with Spain in view on clear days. The kasbah, old cafés and port views make a good northern stop, with Cap Spartel close enough for a half-day trip.

- Book Al Boraq seats ahead, especially at weekends.
- Food is halal as standard, and alcohol is found only in some hotels and restaurants.
