An old fishing village on the far western edge of Lantau, where families still live in stilt houses over the tidal creek. It's slower and more old-fashioned than the rest of Hong Kong, and pairs well with a trip to the Big Buddha.

Things to do
- The stilt housesWalk the lanes and footbridges past houses built on stilts over the water.Map ↗
- Boat rideShort boat trips run past the stilt houses and out to sea to look for Chinese white dolphins, the pink ones.Map ↗
- The old police stationThe century-old station at the edge of the village is now restored as a heritage hotel. Walk out to it for views across the bay.Map ↗
- SunsetTai O looks out west over the sea, so stay on for the sunset before heading back.Map ↗
Good to know
- Dolphin sightings have become rare, so treat the boat ride as a look at the stilt houses with a chance of dolphins.
- Combine it with Ngong Ping and the Big Buddha in one day.
