tagaytay
Cool ridge town with bulalo and views over Taal Volcano.
- Best time
- December to February is the coolest and clearest. In the rainy season, from June to October, fog and cloud can hide the lake. Weekends are crowded.
- How long
- A day trip from Manila, or 1 night
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Manila (about 4 hours). Tagaytay is about 1.5–2 hours' drive south, longer in weekend traffic, and there are buses from Pasay.

A ridge-top city south of Manila, looking down on Taal Lake and the volcano island in the middle. It's cooler than the capital, and Filipinos come for the views, the cafés and bowls of hot beef soup.

Good to know
- Taal is an active volcano. Check PHIVOLCS for the alert level before you go, as unrest can bring ash or volcanic smog, and trips to the volcano island are restricted.
- Go early on weekends to beat the traffic from Manila.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
