The Valley of Hope's story gallery and a long browse through the plant nurseries.
- Best time
- Any time of year, but the story gallery only opens on Sundays, so plan around it. Browse the nurseries in the morning, before the rows of pots heat up.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 30–40 minutes' drive from KL via the DUKE or the North–South Expressway; the valley is next to Hospital Sungai Buloh. The MRT Putrajaya Line and KTM Komuter stop at Sungai Buloh station, a short Grab ride away.

In 1930 the British built a leprosy settlement in a valley at Sungai Buloh, planned as a self-sufficient garden town. Former patients and their families still live in what's now called the Valley of Hope, and its story gallery tells their history. The valley is also where Klang Valley gardeners come to buy plants, from the nurseries that grew up around it.

Good to know
- The settlement is people's homes and a working hospital area. Stay in the visitor areas and ask before photographing residents.
- Most nurseries take cash only, and the first price is open to a friendly haggle.
- Bring a box or old newspapers to keep pots upright in the boot.
