Paddy fields to the horizon, the wishing tree and seafood by the fishing jetty.
- Best time
- There are two crops a year. The fields are green a month or two after planting and golden just before harvest, so check recent photos before you go. Early mornings and late afternoons have the best light.
- How long
- Day trip
- Getting there
- About 1.5–2 hours' drive from KL, usually via Kuala Selangor along the coast road. There's no handy public transport, so drive.

A small farming and fishing town on the Selangor coast, surrounded by some of the most productive paddy fields in the country. It's an easy day trip from KL: photos in the rice fields, the wishing tree by the beach and a seafood lunch in the fishing village.

Things to do

- The wishing treeA lone tree on the beach where visitors toss up red ribbons written with wishes.Map ↗
- A rice millSome mills show how paddy becomes rice, and sell bags of local rice to take home.Map ↗
- The fishing villageFishing boats, jetties and seafood restaurants by the river mouth.Map ↗
Good to know
- Stick to the roads and paths. These are working farms, and the bunds between the fields are easily damaged.
- Pair it with the fireflies at Kuala Selangor on the drive back.
