A Roman aqueduct through town and a pointed castle above two river valleys.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October are best for walking. Summer afternoons are hot; winter is cold and often icy, with the odd snowfall.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop to Madrid, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul (about 17–19 hours all in). Fast trains from Madrid Chamartín reach Segovia-Guiomar in about 30 minutes, then a bus takes about 15 minutes into town. Spain is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Segovia's Roman aqueduct strides right through the town, two tiers of granite arches held together without mortar. From there the old town climbs past a Gothic cathedral to the Alcázar, a castle that looks drawn from a fairy tale.

Good to know
- Fast trains stop at Segovia-Guiomar, outside town; the bus meets them and drops you at the aqueduct.
- Halal meat is hard to find in Segovia, so plan your main meal back in Madrid.
