savannah
Oak-shaded squares, old brick streets, riverfront warehouses and Southern cooking.
- Best time
- March–May bring azaleas and comfortable mornings, and October–November are pleasant too. Summer is hot, humid and stormy, and late summer brings hurricane risk.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly to Atlanta with one stop via Seoul, about 21–24 hours all in, then about 4 hours by car or a short connecting flight. The airport is 20 minutes from the historic district. Savannah is 12 hours behind KL, 13 from November to early March. Malaysians need a US B1/B2 visitor visa, usually with an interview at the embassy in KL; ESTA isn't open to Malaysian passports.

Savannah's old town is laid out around 22 leafy squares, shaded by live oaks hung with Spanish moss. It's a city for slow walks, old houses and long Southern meals, with the river a few streets away.

Good to know
- Halal is scarce in the historic district. Seafood is the easy route, but Southern cooking uses pork in vegetables and gravies, so ask.
- Wear shoes with grip for River Street's steep old stairs and cobbles.
