Long Beach walks, Port Barton's reef trips and quiet fishing villages on Palawan's west coast.
- Best time
- January to April is dry, with calm water for the boat trips. July to October brings the southwest monsoon, heavy rain and rough seas that can cancel trips; May, June, November and December are in between.
- How long
- 4 days
- Getting there
- Fly to Puerto Princesa with one stop, usually via Manila (about 4 hours from KL, then about 1 hour 20 minutes). Port Barton is about 3–3.5 hours north by road; Long Beach is about 4 hours. The Philippines is on the same time as KL.

A stretch of Palawan's west coast between Puerto Princesa and El Nido, with two very different bases: Long Beach, about 14 km of near-empty sand, and Port Barton, a small fishing village with island-hopping trips out to reefs and islets. It's the quieter alternative to El Nido.

Things to do
- Long BeachAround 14 km of fine sand and almost no one on it, one of the longest beaches in the Philippines.Map ↗
- Port BartonA sandy-lane village on a bay, with bamboo cafés and boats lined up on the beach.Map ↗
- Island hopping from Port BartonA day of snorkelling stops, turtles over the seagrass and lunch on a small island beach.Map ↗

Good to know
- Pick Long Beach or Port Barton as your base; they are separate areas about an hour apart.
- Halal food is very limited. Grilled fish and seafood are the easy fallback, so tell the boat crew before they buy the picnic lunch.
- Spend your last night in Puerto Princesa so a slow road doesn't put your flight home at risk.
