An old Broga temple, a swaying bridge and Malaysia's tallest Monkey King statue.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Go early: the climb to the statue is steep and exposed, and at weekends the bridge fills up. Weekdays are quieter.
- How long
- 2–3 hours, or half a day with Broga Hill
- Getting there
- About an hour's drive from KL via Semenyih and the road to Broga. The temple is on Jalan Besar in Broga village. There's no handy public transport.

Sak Dato began in the late 1800s as a cave shrine to Sak Man, a miner who, the story goes, told a friend in a dream that he would die in a cave and become the area's guardian. The temple now climbs a hill on the Negeri Sembilan side of Broga in tiers, and a 103-metre suspension bridge crosses a small valley to a 15-metre Sun Wukong, said to be the tallest Monkey King statue in Malaysia.

Good to know
- Pair it with a Broga Hill sunrise: hike first, then come down for breakfast and the temple before the midday heat.
- The climb to the statue is hard going for anyone who struggles with steep steps; the gardens and lower temple are fine on their own.
- Wear shoes with grip, and leave space for worshippers in the shrine halls.
