Red-roofed streets, sea walks and seafood on Shandong's coast.
- Best time
- May–June and September–October are comfortable by the sea. July–August is warm enough for swimming but busy and humid; January–February brings cold coastal winds.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Direct flights from KL take about 6.5 hours. Jiaodong Airport is well outside the city, about an hour by metro or car. Malaysians can visit mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days.

A seaside city on the Shandong coast, once a German concession, with red-roofed villas, beaches and a long waterfront for walking. Seafood is everywhere, and the Laoshan mountains rise straight out of the sea nearby.

Good to know
- Laoshan needs a full day, and its scenic sections have separate entrances, so decide which one before you go.
- Lanzhou-style halal noodle shops (look for the qingzhen, 清真, signs) are the easy halal option.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
