pulau ubin
Rent a bike to explore Singapore's last kampung and the Chek Jawa wetlands.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Go early in the morning to beat the midday heat, and check the tide tables if you want to see Chek Jawa's shore at low tide.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 4–5 hours' drive from KL to Singapore, plus border queues. From Changi Point Ferry Terminal in Changi Village, bumboats take about 10 minutes to Ubin.

A small island off Singapore's north-east coast, and one of the last places in the country that still feels rural. There are old kampung houses, quiet roads through the forest, flooded granite quarries and the Chek Jawa wetlands at the eastern end. Most people rent a bike and spend a slow half day exploring.

Good to know
- Bring cash for the bumboat and bike rental.
- Bumboats leave once they have 12 passengers, so expect a short wait on quiet days.
- Wild boar roam the island. Keep your distance and don't feed them.
