Pulau Tinggi rises steeply out of the sea off Johor's east coast; the name means 'tall island', and its forested peak makes it easy to pick out. It's part of the marine park, with a few resorts, small fishing villages and clear water for snorkelling when the sea is calm.

- Book your boat transfer when you book your room; there are few public boats.
- Facilities outside the resorts are basic, so bring cash and any essentials from the mainland.
- A marine park fee applies, and taking coral or shells is not allowed.
