An old royal town about 2 hours south of Bangkok, on the way to Hua Hin. A hilltop palace looks over the town, cave temples sit in the hills outside, and the place is famous across Thailand for its traditional desserts. UNESCO named it a creative city of gastronomy in 2021, so it deserves more than a toilet stop.

Good to know

  • Monkeys roam Khao Wang and Tham Khao Luang. Keep food and loose things out of sight.
  • Cover shoulders and knees for the palaces and temples.
