Best time
May–September is best for walks and beaches, and May–June is the time for puffins on Skomer, which leave by the end of July. November–February is stormy, and boat trips and coastal buses mostly stop.

Getting there
Fly direct from KL to London (about 14 hours) on Malaysia Airlines or British Airways, then take the train from Paddington to Haverfordwest or Tenby, about 4.5–5 hours with a change. A hire car is the easiest way to get around the coast. The UK is 7 hours behind KL in summer and 8 in winter.

The Pembrokeshire Coast is Britain's only national park set up mainly for its coastline: cliffs, coves and harbour towns at the western tip of Wales. Base yourself in one area and walk short stretches of the coast path.

Good to know

  • Skomer landings are limited each day and sell out; leave a spare day, as rough seas cancel boats.
  • Seasonal coastal buses let you walk one way along the path and ride back.
  • Halal food is very scarce in Pembrokeshire, so self-catering is the way to go; Haverfordwest has big supermarkets.
