Fjord islands, waterfront museums and a white opera-house roof you can walk across.
- Best time
- May–September has long days and the easiest island trips, and in June–July it barely gets dark. Winter is cold and snowy with short days, good for museums and cross-country skiing in the forest.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop, usually via Amsterdam, Doha or Istanbul, about 16–18 hours all in. The airport express train reaches Oslo Central in about 20 minutes. Norway is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Oslo sits at the head of its fjord, with museums along the water and a white marble opera house you can walk right over. Forest and islands are close enough to fit an outdoor day into a city break.

Good to know
- One Ruter ticket, bought in the app, covers the trams, metro, buses and the local island ferries.
- Grønland, just east of the central station, is full of halal restaurants and grocers; stock up before heading to smaller towns.
