Hokkaido's best-known ski area, where four linked resorts share one mountain, Niseko Annupuri. Dry, deep powder falls all winter, Mount Yotei stands across the valley, and there are onsen to soak in afterwards.

Good to know
- Book rooms and ski lessons months ahead for Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year.
- Follow the Niseko Rules: only go off-piste through the official gates, and check the daily avalanche report.
- It's often well below freezing. Dress in layers and cover your face and hands.
