nice
Pebble beaches, old-town markets and chickpea pancakes on the French Riviera.
- Best time
- May–June and September–October are warm and good for swimming. July–August is hot and crowded; late October and November can bring heavy storms, and winter is mild but too cool for the beach.
- How long
- 3–4 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 17–19 hours all in. The airport tram reaches the centre in about 30 minutes. France is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Nice is a proper city by the sea, with a pastel old town, a busy flower market and a long seafront promenade. Trains along the coast make Monaco, Antibes and Èze easy day trips.

Good to know
- North African and Turkish restaurants are the easiest halal option, and socca and many market snacks are vegetarian.
- The beaches are pebbly, so bring water shoes.
