Nadi is where almost every visitor to Fiji lands, and the busy Indo-Fijian town is worth a day or two of its own. Curry houses, a colourful Hindu temple and green hills just outside town make a good start before heading out to the islands.

Good to know
- Fiji has a long-established Indo-Fijian Muslim community, so Muslim-run curry houses and halal kebab shops are easier to find in Nadi than on the islands. Lovo, the earth-oven feast, usually includes pork.
- Port Denarau, where most island boats leave from, is a separate resort area about 15 minutes from town.
- At the temple, cover shoulders and knees and take off your shoes.
