Cuban cafés, street murals and Art Deco streets across the bay at Miami Beach.
- Best time
- November–April are the most comfortable months, sunny and less humid, and also the busiest. Summer is hot and wet with afternoon storms, and August–September are the riskiest months for hurricanes.
- How long
- 3–4 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop, usually via London, Istanbul or Dubai, about 24–28 hours all in, or with two via Tokyo or Seoul and a US city. The airport is 20–40 minutes from downtown or Miami Beach. Miami is 12 hours behind KL, 13 from November to early March. Malaysians need a US B1/B2 visitor visa, usually with an interview at the embassy in KL; ESTA isn't open to Malaysian passports.

Miami runs on Cuban coffee and Latin American food, with glass towers along the bay. Across the causeway, Miami Beach has pastel Art Deco hotels and a long stretch of sand.

Good to know
- Cuban food leans on pork, so ask before ordering. Halal places are mostly Middle Eastern and South Asian, out in the suburbs rather than on the beach.
- Stay on Miami Beach for the sand or downtown for the city; crossing the causeway in traffic eats into the day.
