Surf beaches, limestone caves and farm produce around a small southwest town.
- Best time
- March–May is warm and settled, good for beaches and walks. September–November brings wildflowers along the coast; June–August is wet, and late December–January is packed with holidaymakers.
- How long
- 3–4 days
- Getting there
- Fly direct to Perth in just over 5 hours, then it's about 3 hours' drive south. You'll want a car, as the beaches and caves are spread out. Western Australia is on the same time as KL.

Margaret River is a small country town surrounded by karri forest, limestone caves and surf beaches. Wine is the big name here, but caves, coastal walks, cheese and chocolate fill the days just as well.

Good to know
- Eat in Margaret River town; out at the caves and beaches, food stops are few.
- Halal meat is hard to find in the southwest, so stock up in Perth and plan picnics. Seafood and vegetarian dishes are the easy fallback in town.
