Climb into cave pagodas tucked inside five marble hills near the beach.
- Best time
- February to May is dry. Go early in the morning, before the heat and the tour groups. The steps get slippery in the rainy season, from about September to December.

- About 20 minutes' drive south of central Da Nang, and about 20–30 minutes from Hoi An. Flights from KL to Da Nang take about 2.5 hours.

Five marble and limestone hills just south of Da Nang, each named after one of the five elements. They're full of caves, tunnels and Buddhist shrines, and you can climb Thuy Son, the Water Mountain, to the top. At the foot of the hills, the stone-carving village has worked the marble for generations.

Good to know
- Wear shoes with good grip. The steps and cave floors are steep and uneven.
- A lift goes part of the way up Thuy Son if you'd rather skip the first climb.
- These are active places of worship, so dress modestly and keep your voice down.
