mamanuca islands
Small sandy islands, reef snorkelling and short boat escapes from Nadi.
- Best time
- May–October is the dry season, though trade winds can make crossings choppy. November–April is hotter and wetter, and January–March is the peak of cyclone season.
- How long
- 3–5 days
- Getting there
- Fly to Nadi with one stop, usually via Singapore, Sydney or Brisbane, about 14–18 hours all in. Boats to the islands leave from Port Denarau, about 25 minutes from the airport, and take from 30 minutes to about 2 hours. Fiji is 4 hours ahead of KL.

The Mamanucas are a scatter of small islands west of Nadi, ringed by white sand and coral, close enough for a day trip or an easy few nights. Days revolve around swimming, snorkelling and doing very little.

Good to know
- Late flights into Nadi often mean a night on the mainland before the boat out.
- Your resort does all the cooking, so sort out halal meals when you book; Nadi town is the place for Muslim-run curry houses.
