lima
Pacific clifftop walks, ceviche lunches, colonial squares and colourful Barranco streets.
- Best time
- December–April are warm and sunny, good for the coast. June–October are cool and grey under a sea mist called garúa, though it hardly ever rains; it's still a fine season for museums and food.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop, usually via Amsterdam, about 28–32 hours all in. The airport, with its new terminal since 2025, is 45–90 minutes from Miraflores, depending on traffic. Peru is 13 hours behind KL all year.

Lima is one of South America's great food cities, where lunch is the main event and ceviche its star. Miraflores and Barranco sit on clifftops above the Pacific, and the historic centre has grand colonial squares.

Good to know
- Halal is limited, but seafood makes Lima easy: ceviche is just fish, lime, onion and chilli.
- Use ride-hailing apps or registered taxis rather than flagging cars down in the street.
